In response to interest in period dress and costume, this page addresses
the garment interests of those whose discernment
focuses on the religious
costume of the various groups of Christian
Religious Orders, specifically
those  Orders and  Congregations  of  the
Roman Church  as well as the
Anglican and Eastern traditions.  These
garments are essentially uniforms
and as such are subject to the detailed
regulations and usage of the highly
organized groups and system from
which they emanated.  This is particularly                      Daughters of Charity
true of the Roman Church groups,
the system to which they belonged being                         of St. Vincent de Paul
derived ultimately from the Roman
Army.

This page is set aside for serious collectors, antiquarians and those interested in the costume, history and tradition of a
particular Order or Congregation.  In most cases these garments, called habits, will be reproductions of garments no
longer made or used.Reproductions are museum quality garments made to the original specifications of the garment and using original materials.  There are instances where the reproduction process is no longer possible and in that case we produce a garment identical in appearance to the original yet using different materials or different methods of construction.  In such a case we categorize the product as Facsimile / Reproductions.  The garments come with a full usage directory and complete history.

These garments are categorized generally as Vintage Clothing or Period Costume.  More specifically they are subcategorized as Religious Costume and more partularly still they are productions of  certain religious groups largely from the last four centuries.  Also, the time period for the most stylized of these garments is narrowly defined to between the mid 1800's to the late 1950's, though we do older reproductions upon request.

Pricing for these garments is done on the basis of time, cost of materials, research, material searches, detailed requirements of each garment and the knowledge and skill of the garment maker.

For further information regarding these reproductions please see the Contact Us page.
